Theater To Go
Maverick Productions. Tidewater's number one theatrical production company is proud to present this new and exciting entertainment opportunity.

Allow us to treat your guests to an evening to be remembered.
Professional theater and fine dining and all from the comfort your own table.
Dinner theater patrons know that if you love great theater and fine dining, this is the only way to go!
Those who have never tried Dinner Theater are in for a treat.
Your guests will enjoy a deliciously funny and touching play presented to you by some of the most talented actors this side of Broadway.
We bring you the play. You supply the dinner and the room. What could be easier?

We will be offering two different plays this year. One of them is guaranteed to be just right for your group.

Our first Offering is Mark Twain’s “ The Diaries of Adam and Eve”.
David Birney, one of America’s finest classical actors and star of numerous television series and movies has crafted this light hearted look at the world’s first love story through the eyes of America’s greatest humorists, Mark Twain.
Twain’s Garden of Eden bursts with wit, laughter and the lyric poignance of the first love and the first loss. “The Diaries of Adam and Eve” is a uniquely American theater piece, funny, beautiful, and deeply moving.
This delightful adaptation is set in a Victorian garden. At first Adam is puzzled by the new arrival in the garden and is suspicious of her disturbing appetite for fruit. Eve, believing herself to be some sort of experiment is curious about another experiment in the garden, “perhaps some sort of reptile or architecture”.
Eve gives names to everything, much to Adam’s annoyance.

He tries to ignore her, so she seeks companionship amongst the animals, particularly with a certain snake!

What the press has to say:
“Sharp and resourceful...played with freshness and theatricality... Charming”.
-Variety

“A reminder of Twain’s storytelling genius...endearing...flavorful as apple cider.”
- The Los Angeles Times

“Adam and Eve lose Eden but find contentment and love...It’s a touching
moment of theater.”
-San Francisco Chronicle

“Wrought with humor and tenderness regarding the love of a man and a
woman...moving.”
-The Hollywood Reporter

Our second offering is A.R. Gurney’s “Love Letters”
“Love Letters” has been called Gurney’s finest work. The play follows the life-long correspondence between Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner, beginning with their vastly different childhood’s and continuing with the intersections and changing directions of the lives. But the play is much more than just a series of  “Dear Andy’s;”
it is about the power and the presence of the written word. This struggle of words, and the tangible records of human character and behavior they leave behind, are the core of the deftly crafted “dialogue” that Gurney has given us.
This unique, moving play focuses on the special  relationship between a man and a woman, as shown solely through the reading of their love letters to one another. The subtle brilliance of this work lies in its characterizations and adherence to basic principles of good theater. The deceptively simple staging lets the story shine through.
We know you will enjoy this extraordinary correspondence!

What the press has to say:
“Gurney’s virtues...civility, elegance, wit and charm...have seldom been better displayed than they are in Love Letters.”
-New York Daily News.

“In this wry and poignant tale told entirely through letters, A.R. Gurney has created an exquisite jewel of a play. Few plays have been tinier, more beautiful than this tender sketch of the bond between two people who cannot live with, or without, each other.”
-Time

“There is a satisfying, classical feel to all this.”
-New York Newsday
